Happenings in Biotech at CDO


How is Biotechnology improving the quality of life on Earth?



This year we have started a Biotechnology Program at CDO.

So far, we have,

(1)Developed bioassays to identify bactericides/herbicides in plant extracts

(2) Learned how Biotech has improved the cheese-making and fermentation process. 
We used genetically engineered enzymes to make cheese and we made homemade root beer using the fermentation process and then evaluated the root beer for quality as they would do in the food industry

(3) Been exposed to industry quality scientific equipment

(4) Isolated DNA from wheat germ and E. coli and then analyzed both using agarose gel electrophoresis

(5) Genetically engineered E.coli to make Green Flourescent Protein
